Doors Delivered

The workers have been clamoring for the doors to be chosen for almost two weeks now; I strongly suspect it's an urge to try and get everything done in one last final push, which is why they've been leaving all the small things we ask until the doors came.

Now the doors are delivered, and it turns out there isn't even someone already identified to do the installation, they have to go find somebody.

Originally I was dead set against this sort of traditional design with curved corner pieces. I wanted something square, angular, modern and smooth.

Well, it turns out that all the doors like that are either way darker than anything else in the apartment, or much lighter, or else far too expensive, and some were two out of three. The grain and color of these doors (there are five-- master bath, guest bath, office, bedroom, and hall closet) most closely matches our parquet floor in the living room. While only one of those doors, the guest bath, is really anywhere near the parquet floor, I thought it was important for the wood surfaces throughout the apartment to have some consistency, given that we are already mixing several styles of wallpaper and tiling in different areas.

The door seen here is the only one with glass, it's for the office. All the others are solid. The bathroom doors will lock from the inside for privacy, and the office door will have a key-operated lock that can lock from either side.
