A New Portal “For a Free Internet”

By New Eurasia - Posted on 02 February 2010

Translation of Avicenna’s post (RUS).

I stumbled across a pretty interesting page, whose creators follow the motto “From each according to his ability, to each – free Internet!”

According to the organizers, activists from the movement “For a Free Internet,” they work in all parts of the country, which means that information is disseminated much faster. Want the link? Kaznet-Freedom.org. The authors themselves are calling it a real Island of Freedom.

It’s a bold name, but looking at the site and its capabilities, it becomes clear that you won’t easily find such a thing anywhere else. Unless you’re on our blog Smiling

The site contains the following:

1. A blog panel (creating blogs using the WordPress platform);
2. Conferences for site visitors and activists;
3. A proxy server (for those in countries where certain sites are blocked);
4. A speedometer (a cool application to measure your Internet speed);
5. Mail;
6. Picture service for saving photos and uploading them to other blogs and sites in the future.

It’s a very interesting site, considering LiveJournal is blocked in Kazakhstan. Good luck to our colleagues!
